Rose quartz is the stone of the heart. It is a perfect stone to work with for attracting love, heart healing, easing a broken heart, opening the heart chakra, healing a relationship, increasing self-esteem or seeing the beauty in yourself and others. It encapsulates the pink ray and, as a member of the quartz family, is a master healer which is an absolute essential for your crystal armoury. It is also a wonderful crystal to give away as a gift, as it works twofold in attracting all of the above into the life of the receiver, while simultaneously conveying your love and affection for them at the same time. Quartz is a hard stone that can be cleansed using water safely and a wonderful stone to use when making gem elixirs. Because of its fostering your capacity for unconditional love, it is linked to Archangel Chamuel and is one of the crystals most attuned to the angelic kingdom. While many stones appear more powerful in their natural state, rose quartz seems to emit its gentle energy more profoundly with rounded, softened, gentle edges in the form of rose quartz hearts, spheres and tumblestones.

On a physical level, rose quartz can be used for healing in situations where the healing needs to be gentle and non-aggressive. It is a stone that is safe for healing use on children, animals and pregnant women (though be aware of the choking hazard for small children and animals with small stones). It is the recommended stone to use as a starting point after any major trauma such as an accident, childbirth, surgery, or grief and loss. It can be used to ease pain and assist healing around scar tissue and also when held to the site of dental pain (including after dental work or extractions). As with any type of quartz, the coolness and smoothness of its surface draws out the pain while the healing energy of the stone itself works on swelling and the trauma to the energy field. It can also be used on pain in the shoulder and upper arm area, for balancing or healing to assist the physical heart, and to balance afflictions of the skin or keep your complexion clear, fresh and youthful – for the latter a gem elixir would work best.

Rose quartz is inexpensive and wonderful for earth healing: you may feel called to leave small pieces in natural places such as the crook of a tree or on a river bed, or out and about for others to “coincidentally” find at a time that is perfect for them – a gift from the angels indeed. It can also be used on the crown chakra to enable the user to perceive God’s love. While it is a gentle stone, in some configurations it can have incredible power. My rose quartz diffuser – a pyramid for protection surrounded by four wands – is a case in point: it repels negativity away from my love life.
